Mentor
"If you have much, give of your wealth; If you have little, give of your heart"-Arab proverb

Mentorship is an important aspect of the program at Little Debbie's Second Chance Homes, Inc. because the residents desire one-on-one time with someone who understands and is willing to offer personal support and guidance.

The keyword in the definition of a mentor is "trusted". Trust is very important between a mentor and mentee. Someone that has had more experience in life, and its trials, is the ideal person for the youth to put their trust in. Becoming

a LDSCH, Inc. mentor will benefit you as much as the child you are helping. Mentorship serves a purpose for both parties participating and we are hoping that your life will be changed by this experience.

FAQ's

Q: Can males be partnered with the female residents as mentors?

A:Being that our residential program is solely for young females, we prefer that mentors and mentee be of the same sex. However, for those special circumstances where a resident may request a male as a mentor the discretion is left up to the Program Director Ms. LaKisha Stiggers.

Q: How many days per week are the mentors required to meet with their mentee?

A:Mentors are encouraged to meet with their mentee AT LEAST 2 days a week.

Q:Are the mentors responsible for taking the residents on weekend outings?

A:No. Mentor-Mentee interaction is solely at the discretion of the mentor and mentee.

Q:If a mentor cannot make a scheduled visit with their mentee who are they to contact?

A: If a mentor is going to cancel or make any unscheduled visits they are to contact Program Supervisor Mrs. Felder.
